Well after sitting half the day awaiting the delivery of the Vance & Hines Big Radius pipes, they finally arrived. Installed them pretty much straight forward as the directions state, and didnt run into anything major but WOW what a look they add to my Deuce. I've read on several sites that the quailty of workmanship from Vance & Hines seemed lately to degrade but I have to say these arrived spotless. Not a scratch or dent and the Chrome..WOW..is all I can say. Those sweeping end pipes with the scallop cut out is truly impressive to see once they are on the bike.

I will admit they are loud, (left the baffles in of course) but not near as loud as I thought they were going to be (which is a good thing). The sound is incredible. What a difference from the Stock Deuce pipes. Of course thanks to many of you here on this site I jumped in and did the re-jetting which went just as smooth. Ran into one issue that I never saw mentioned here or in the directions, but that was easy to figure out (I hope I got it right) and put on the Big Sucker intake, fired her up...and was amazed at the sound. What Im thrilled the most about is the idle gurgle....sounds so cool...now it sounds like a true Harley Should sound. The other added benefit to these pipes is I have the solid chrome rear wheel and with these pipes the entire wheel is exposed and you can finally see it (not to mention easier to clean now).

I'm working on some pics and should have them up here sometime today...after I get done zipping all over the place showing them off....

I want to again say thank you to all of you that encouraged me to tackle this, and the advice and suggestions given, were very helpful and much appreciated.

Happy 4th!

Great looking pipes. Good selection. And you're right, they show off the rear wheel. Very cool.

Hi, I can't wait to see your pix. What pipes did you replace? Have you noticed any change in power when you went with the Big Radius pipes? I have an 03 EFI Deuce, with a Big Bore Stage II kit with 203 cam. I just ordered the Big Radius pipes myself yesterday, and would REALLY appreciate if anyone can tell me if I'll need to do anything with my EFI. I currently have the Screamin' Eagle tapered slip-on torque mufflers. I asked my dealer yesterday; they said no reflash or Powercommander was necessary. Is this correct? Thanks!!!!!!

DesertDeuce, I posted some pics of the Deuce with the Vance & Hines Big Radius pipes installed. They replaced the stock pipes. I cant be much help with your EFI system (as you can see Im having my own issues with the re-jetting of the carbs), but everything I've read says you should be prepared to re-map if you change your exhaust.

The people here at this site are invaluable and Im sure you'll guided in the right direction.

Note about the Big Radius pipes....besides sounding cool and loud and looking great, the right passenger footpeg bottom nut that holds the peg in the attachment bar from the frame will rest right on heat shield of the upper pipe. If you look at one of the photos I posted....I mean it rests right up against it...so Im going to have to change the passenger peg to something offset to get it off the heat shield. The instructions included with the pipes say nothing of this....and it might just be the type of pegs I have that are doing this. I did notice on another forum somebody with these pipes and he has the offset passenger pegs. Just a headsup on that if you plan on installing them yourself.

Hope you enjoy the pics....

Hey Wyatt,

I just installed these Monday on my 02 Night Train. CYCLESPOT, thanks for the impressive service. The knowledge and friendliness can't be beat, not to mention the price. I'll be back again and again.

My directions included a .75" spacer to get the foot peg off the pipe. With this spacer, my peg comes withing about 4 mm, but never touches the pipe. I think the Deuce's peg mounts different though???

I too love the sound, look and performance of the pipes. They aren't as deep as my friend's big shots, but the looks can't be beat. I honestly thought they would be much louder. They're not bad at all.

DesertDeuce,
I'm thinking you probably don't have the stock ECM with your current mods. Do you know which remap you have? I was going to go with the HD stage I remap for pipe and stage I air filter, but was told my motor would run too lean. It is only a general download, and cannot be customized for the many different types of pipes and other mods like a race tuner or Power Commander. I sprung for the Power Commander and couldn't be happier. They have custom maps for all kinds of setups, plus many locations where you can get your bike dynoed and custom tuned for the best performance for your setup.
