Has anyone got any experience in using tunable pipes? Do you tune the pipes for sound and/or performance and then tune the carb? Or is it the other way around? Thye wrenches that I have talked to really don't know how to work with a tunable pipe so they recommend against it of course. I am looking for something that can grow with my engine mods as I add them. I am looking at the Supertrapp 2-1 tunable or maybe the SE 2-1 tunable.

Thanks in advance,

I would think it a lot more efficient to tune the pipe on a dyno with a fuel/air sensor, then deal with the carb. The pipe tuning should be a lot more dependent on the engine itself such as displacement and flow characteristics.

Though after the carb is set up It would seem wise to run through tuning the pipe again and add or subtract a disk and see if there's enough difference to warrant retuning the pipe and rechecking the carb both again.

Worst case I would think you'd have to do this twice or maybe three times and get it perfect.

On a stock bike they usually come with the right tune already for a stage 1 upgrade.
