Hi, I'm new to this site, and would be grateful if anyone could answer some questions about V&H Big Radius pipes, as I've only seen, but not heard them. I currently have an 03 EFI Deuce, Stage II Big Bore and 203 cams, with HD Screamin' Eagle I (not II) performance slip-ons. For safety reasons (so auto drivers hear me better), I'm interested in louder pipes. I've seen pix of Big Radius on a Deuce and thought they looked great. Now, I have ridden a friend's FXR which had a Thunderheader 2:1 and though I was wearing a helmet, found it uncomfortably loud for long trips.
1) How loud are Big Radius pipes compared to this if anyone knows?
2) Where do Big Radius rank in the volume spectrum of V&H pipes?
3) I've heard a sound clip on the net of them, and they sound deeper than Big Shots Staggered...is this true?
4) I've heard they're louder than Big Shots because they direct the sound downward and it bounces back up at you...is this true?
5) Are quieter baffles available for them, as they apparently are for other V&H pipes?
6) Do they sound good? One guy I know who's heard them didn't care for them and said they sounded like someone was holding a tin can over the exhaust tips.
7) Compared to my current setup described above, would I expect any performance gain or loss? I'm happy with my bike's current performance, and don't want to lose any significant torque on the low or mid-range
THANK YOU VERY MUCH! Hope that wasn't too many questions!

Yesterday, I rode with a friend of mine that has the BR on his Softail std. They are LOUD. I think that he took the baffles out, but, let me repeat, they are LOUD. His bike also has that "reversion" sound after each shift. I don't
like the sound. They are nice at an idle, and they look cool.

Joe (?), thank you for the reply; if you happen to find out if he had the baffles out, please let me know. I have heard that they are "LOUD", and that's why I'm trying to see if anyone has a comparison to Big Shots Staggered which I have heard and thought the volume was okay on those. I appreciate your input and look forward to hearing from others, and hopefully Dyna Jim.

DesertDeuce, Welcome to CC.
I think most people have different opinions of each and every pipe. Personal experience by listening to others pipes seems to be the best way. Once you find a set that catches your ears and eyes then the question for proper combinations to get expected torque and HP need to be evaluated. Good luck.
BTW all Big Radius pipes I've heard are loud. But I've never asked the owner about the baffels.

The baffles were removed and torque cones installed.
