When I switched out my mufflers they brought the bike back to me without my original set. When I asked for them they seemed surprised. "Oh, you want those? OK."
I asked, "isn't it customary to give back original parts?" They said most don't want them. They just throw them in a pile. Thats must be why they were so careless with mine. When I got them home I noticed one of the mounting bolts was broken off in the muffler bracket and there was a dent on the other.
I called to complain and they apologized and said come on down and pick any set I want out of the pile. He said many were brand new, never used, switched out before delivery. I'm going to.
Point is, if you ever want a good deal on stock mufflers, check with the service guy at the dealership.

I stopped in at the service building today and carried in my stock pipes. The guy there had remembered our conversation and set a nice set aside for me. They are basically brand new. They're still partly shiny on the inside. These pipes have seen very little run time.
A.D. Farrows gives great service.

I have gotten many OEM parts from my service manager. It's their way of helping you since you have paid them sooooo much.

Hmmm, sounds like a good profit-making scheme to me, Wind. If you could talk them into let you relieve them of their excess pipes, you could make a nice bundle on Ebay. I know these dealers don't have time or resources to dispose of them. All you'd have to worry about is coming up with a lot of six-foot long boxes and packing material. I know there are people out there looking for stock pipes! :deal:

Audible,
Sounds like you have a friendly service manager at a friendly dealer. This guy at Farrows is too. Not all are so friendly and willing to help without the green. I know one that isn't. It doesn't matter how much you have paid them so far. No favors. No deals. No discounts. No gratitude.

Boom,
I don't think they would just let me lighten their load of pipes. They took mine in exchange. I don't know what they do with them. They must have a deal with someone. Maybe just scrap metal. You could always inquire, maybe beat what they get now.
