I came over from the zone to see what goes on here.If you don't mind I will park here for a while.I know from searching that very expeirenced people are here. So lets start. I have 02 elec glid classic fi. completely stock. I got used set of wild pigs slip on mufflers to put on the bike. This guy said no need to change any thinge else would work on bike. I put them on, and the bike runs real good,no pop, back fire,no ping, nothing.I put new plugs in motor when I did the switch. Now I told some guys at a local shop about what I did and they said check the plugs after a 100 miles to see if they are starting to tan.Well I checked them after 120 miles and to me they are staying on the whitish color. No real taning in color yet. They said go another 100 miles. The bike runs real good with these pipes, will I do any damage? They are plenty loud for me.This bike has 5400 miles on it. I just bought last fall, so I only put about 200 miles on this bike myself. If you guys think I need to make more changes to be safe,I was thinking of the new race fueler that just came out. This shop I have come to know put one on a bike the other day and the customer really liked the results. Money really is an issue at the moment.Just looking for you advice. One more thing. When I replaced the plugs, the old ones where kind of black in color at 5200 miles, for every thing being stock, isn't that running a little on the rich side? What do you all think I should do. This is the only change I plan on doing to the bike. RG
Hey RG,
Welcome to CC... I'll let the people more in the know than I answer your technical questions... I just want to welcome you here! Your gonna love it... park as long as you want!
Cheers
:metoo: What fbomer said. Welcome, glad you're here. You'll like it. Unfortunately I'm not one of the more technical persons here. Just look at my last post about exhaust. But don't worry, someone will jump in soon that can help.

Welcome to CC ! I'm not a pro either but can explain some. I'm assuming your air box and filter's still stock. Think of it this way more air in at the intake plus more air out at the exhaust will make a lean condition. To correct this you get the reflash to make it richer. Right now with your new pipes, you've only completed half the steps to total freeflow. I'm a carb man myself but there's some FI guys in here that can point ya in the right direction and probably save ya some money doing it.
This is a great place . Stick around for awhile.
I am of the understanding that if you have only changed the mufflers (slip ons or slip fits) that no remap or recalibration is required to the EFI provided you still have the stock air intake. Only, once you change the air intake (like to a scream'n eagle stage 1 upgrade) or anything non stock then a remap or recalibration is required.
But to gain the most from your exhaust upgrade an upgrade to the air intake is suggested.
TBD

That's is correct but you're better off doing the works.

Thanks for the welcome everyone.I think to be on the safe side, I will put the stock pipes back on the bike and do the upgrade as soon as I have the extra coin.At least this way I know I am not going to do any damage to the motor. My riding buddies will give me a hard time because my bike is so quiet, but I can take it.Some day I will have a loud bike like all of you..... May all your rides be safe ones. RG
RG,
A loud bike doesn't make a good ride. A good machine makes a good ride. A loud bike just makes it loud. Its not about how much noise you make. Its about enjoying the ride.
I'm sure you know all this but maybe your riding buddies could use a reminder.

Wind,I know what you mean.I love my elec gli classic, I couldn't ask for a nicer riding machine. It's just to quiet being stock, need some rummble. Its a Harley,so lets hear it. Want to scare the deer away before I hit them.Hope that never happens. This is my first bagger, and Its a little harder a manuver around the garage and in tight places but once you get the wheels rolling down the hwy its the most envoyable ride you can have. My friends are just having fun with me.We always kid each other about things. Its all in fun, but most of all,we all like to ride till the sun goes down. Happy rides RG.
