Any thing special I should know about installing the SE 16 gauge double barrel exhaust kit?? I already bought the SE gasket set and removed the stock exhaust.

can't really give advice on installation, (dealer did mine), but you do need a different air filter and if it's fuel injected you'll need a remap.

JPC, just do the reverse and make sure to torgue everything down. Refer to the service manual. If you don't have one, get it. It's the best tool you can have for reference. (other than the members here)

Deuce02, I already have the service manual. Bought it when I got the bike. Over the next two or three weeks, I'll be taking my bike in for the SE stage 1 air cleaner kit and ECM reprogram. I won't be riding it until I have that done. The weather is still to crappy anyways.

JPC, have you thought about the Power Commander instead of the flash? Sure allows more flexibility for future upgrades and better performance possibilities. Maybe you can contact DJ about this.

Is that something the dealer can do and will it affect my warranty?

Some do and I would guess that if they install it they warranty it but I would check with the dealer. We have a couple around here that do.

I just remove mine when I need to take it in for warranty service. It's a simple unplug and remove job that takes about 5 minutes.

As Deuce02 said, I would highly recommend the PCII-USB. If you find a dealer that is a "certified" Power commander tuning center, they will warranty your bike with the PCIII. Some H-D dealers will tell you the warranty is void if you install the PCIII. This is BS but some dealers do take this approach.

If that is the case in your area, follow Deuce02's advice, buy it from Jim, install it yourself and remove it if you take it in for warranty work. If you go this route I would go ahead and get the flash as running the bike with pipes and high flow air kit needs some type of reprogramming. The one thing you get from the H-D flash that you do not get from the PCIII is an increase in the rev limit. I belive it goes up to 6200 RPM with the flash.

Enjoy your pipes

Maalox, I'll keep the PCIII in mind. So it works like the HD race tuner, but better?

The race tuner and PC are different. The PC is more user friendly and can be installed by you. The nice thing about the PC is once you remove it the ignition and fuel mixture are back to stock.

Deuce02, I got it now. Sounds like the way to go.

What's the best way to get the old gasket out of the exhaust ports?? It's all melted in there :dizzy:

I took some needle nose pliers and pulled and they popped out. The new SE gaskets don't look quite as thick?

The factory gaskets are whats called a conical style gasket (cone shaped). These gaskets seal easier, but do restrict flow somewhat over the High Flow "Flat Style" gasket. The reason being, is the cone shaped gasket will bell into the pipe (kind of wraps into the pipe to provide extra sealing) and restrict the flow at the cylinder head. The flat style SE or aftermarket "High Flow" gaskets just seal at the mating surface between pipe and head (just where the two have contact, and only the thickness of the pipe).

They will look different, but the flat style is installed properly won't leak, and will provide you better exhaust flow right out of the head, where it's most important.

Install is done!! A buddy helped me out and it was pretty straight forward and we didn't have any problems. I love the way the bike sounds now. I think my buddy was expecting them to be a little louder, but he's use to running straight pipes with no baffles. :gun2: I tried to explain that I didn't want my bike that loud, but I don't think he understood. :whatever: There just right for me and boy do they look good!! :)
