Got drag pipes on a trike. If it hits a bad pot hole or bump the rear pipe makes contact with the leaf spring of the rear wheels. It's smoking the spring up pretty bad too. Got the suspension jacked all the way. I am thinking about cutting about 6 inches off of both pipes and putting turn downs on them. I don't really think it will affect the performance of the pipes that much. It is a pretty hot set up right now and runs great. I would hate to screw it up, but need to do something about the pipes hitting the spring. Doesn't do it very often, but it does it enough to fix. Putting turn downs should keep it from echoing off the fender so much too. It's not a problem on a little 100 mile poker run, but can get to be a little much on a 400 mile ride.

What your opinion? Is chopping 6 inches off the drag pipes and adding turn downs gonna have any noticable affect on the way she runs?

As long as you do both pipes you should be fine I'd guess. My Sporty has the stock front pipes and I have built several different straight pipe slip-on looking to find the right look and sound. As long as they were equal they all ran pretty much the same. That's my experience.

The longer they are the easier they are to tune, if you make them

to short you'll have more problems tuning them.
