I've got the Big Radius on my 06 Deuce. Sounds good, but I want it LOUD. If I take the baffles out, will I have to get it retuned? A friend of mine took his out on his 04 Deuce, and doesn't seem to hav any problems. But he's got a power commander. I don't have any kind of power commander, so I'll have to take it to HD.
Any thoughts?

if there removable baffles you can always try it and put them back in if it sounds and runs like crap. if your gonna take out all backpressure your scoot might not run very well. keep an eye on the poping and backfireing and yr plugs. see how it goes. as far as going to harley to get it re tuned i might think of going to an independent dealer to save some $$$$$ check out some local chopper shops and seee if they have experience with retuning EFI

Chris is right on the money. You will likely need back pressure unless you get it tuned. See how it runs and go from there with what he said.

Have an 07 Road King Custom. Rush slip-ons, SE1 kit, and XIEDs from night rider. I removed the baffles and it sounds great. No noise ordinance in TEXAS, or if there is they don't enforce it. Been riding it like that for about 2000 miles. The only thing is that when I get on it and shift from 1-2 I will sometimes get a backfire, doesn't bother me. When I first removed the baffles I was a little worried so I checked the plugs about every few hundred miles. The look the same now as the did 2000 miles ago. Just my experience.

I have V&H big radius. If you take the baffles out, you need to install torque cones.

Wonders about the fascination with "LOUD", why would someone make their ride run worse just to make more noise. Must be a guy thing I guess. :-)

Alright, I just pulled them out. SOUNDS GREAT!! I'll keep an eye on my plugs. I'm not sure what torque cones are though. I'll have to do some research into that.

I've had them out for about 3 weeks now, and so far so good. Plugs look good, sounds great, and everybody hears me.

I have big radius pipes and they are already so loud when I open it up that many people don't like riding next to me when blasting around. It'll make your ears ring. I can't even imagine how loud they'd be without baffles, not interested in finding out since the amount of power you sacrifice is significant.

Apart from the fact that a Harley 'sound' is like music, best....PLAYED LOUD...there are other benifits, other road users are more [not completely] aware of your presence, when riding formation I can tell what the guys ahead are doing by the noise of their pipes and I can tell how mine is running, flat spots, missfires etc.....but above all I love LOUD :coolio:

No One Loves the roar of a Harley more than I do but if like it Obnoxious won't be riding behind or close to you and I am partially deaf...

I have Sampson fishtails with no stinkin baffles. When i tried torqe cones i noticed a lose of power on hard acceleration so i pulled those stupid things out. (TOO LOUD?TOO BAD!)

IMHO, those that run pipes that loud, aren't taking any road trips. Guess it's fine for bar hopping, but the long haul........ No thank you.....

My wife often refers to things like this as a "guy" thing...kinda like I refer to her 7 pairs of black shoes as a "girl" thing... ;)

Ok I understand that there is loud and LOUD but...today I took my NT into the stealership for some work and took out a loaner, a 2008 Heritage, a small problem, I had to stop every few miles to see if it was still running.:wtf: .:joke: ..quiet pipes suck..LOL

Loud is cool, but hearing aids cost$$$ if you don't have insurance.
Just picked mine up... 6700.00. (Insurance paid) I thought my phone was bad.

I run Martin Bros. "Daisycutters on my chop w/torque cones. Around MY neck of the woods, you need loud pipes so the cagers can "see" you. After all, multi-tasking can be difficult....texting, reading the paper, watching tv, staring at the unruly kids in the back seat, etc.. No time to perform trivia....LIKE PAYING ATTENTION TO THE ROAD AND WHO'S AROUND YOU !!! Horns have become so commonplace that nobody responds to them anymore. They already hate us for being able to "cut" traffic. I think SOME of the crotch rockets have added to the negative impact due to excessive speeding between cars when cutting. Their pipes can also be an irritant. Sometimes, as I'm rolling down the freeway, I have to check to see if I'm parked with the kickstand down....they SCREAM past me.
Anyway, loud pipes DO serve as a reminder to others....I'M HERE !!! :thumb:

They've been out for about 700 miles or so. Still no problems. I was already pretty deaf, to many times on a deerstand without earplugs as a kid. I'm sure being in the Field Artillery didn't help much, and now Helicopter. Oh well, the pipes are running good, and I really didn't notice much power loss. I think the trade off of power for sound was worth every bit.:thumb:
