I have V&H Bigshot staggered pipes and I think I might have blown out a baffle. Does anyone know if this is possible? My bike has seemed to get louder but I'm not sure. How can I tell if there is a problem with my pipes before I do damage to my scoot.......Please help.

The baffles are held in with a 1/4X20 button head set screw.

Remove the end caps, and check. The end caps are also held in by the same. If you find a 1/4" hole, and no baffle, you'll know.

yupp, hitmans right on. you should deffinetly be able to tell, after removing the end caps you can use a flash light to see if there in there. its not good to run your scoot with 2 different backpressures so if your missing one baffle and can't stay off yr ride untill you get a new one take the other out so yr at least runnin the same backpressure

They are both in there, but for some reason it does not sound right. Also feels like it's down on power a little. Is it possible to break one or hurt one bad enough to make it sound louder than before?

its possible but i highley doubt it. are your exhaust bolts, the ones that hook up to your jugs, torqued right? the only other thing i could think of is maybe (and this is a stretch) you have a real dirty air filter and thats why yr loosin power, but it shouldn't change the sound of yr pipes

You check for any cracks along the header or pipe wall?

Are they the Quite baffles? If so you might have blown out the packing in one..

They do not have the quiet baffles in them. I guess I'll check for cracks or leaks some time today. Thank you all for your input. One last thing though, do pipes get louder as they or the motor break in? I just turned 1000 miles. My last scoot was used so I never dealt with breaking new parts in. Thanks again...
