Well I got a 04 dyna fxd that's all stock except for a set of harley davidson slash down slip on mufflers that I put on right after I bought the bike. I have removed the baffles and they do sound pretty good but I'm not sure if they produce the sound I'm looking for. I want a set of pipes that will make my bike about as loud as it can be. I love loudness and I'm very used to it since I own a 64 chevy that has a big cammed high compression motor in it. Plus I live in the country so I really don't have any neighbors to annoy. Alot of people tell me that my bike is pretty quiet compared to most harleys which I will agree that alot of other harleys I see going down the road do seem a little bit louder. I was wondering what kind of pipes would be good, I've hear samsons are supposed to be pretty loud, and I know alot of people like Vance and Hines, but I'm kinda of lost on what to get. I should be getting my income tax return any day now and I'd like to get a new set of pipes, however if you don't think new pipes would be any louder that my slip on's then I don't want to waste my money. I'm pretty new to the harley world so I'm kinda dumb when it comes to exhaust.

BTP, the Samsons as well as the Porker pipes are loud. Is there a dealer near you so that you could go and listen to different bikes ? May help make up your mind on which ones to get. I suppose that your present pipes are staggard...Here's what I did when I came to the fork in the road at which you are now at. Took a couple 3 ft. long tubes of (1.5" conduit tubing) ,run em up in the mufflers till they stopped then hooked a bungee in the end of one, went around the passeger peg and back to hook in the end of the other pipe. Fired that baby up an that's when the fun started. Run a buncha homemade stuff till I picked up the 2>1. The only way you'll know if it is the sound you're after ...is ya just havta hear it.

There is a couple of dealers in my area so maybe they could help me out. I did hear a sportster awhile back at one of the dealers that had a 2 into 1 exhaust on it and it really made the window's rattle in the showroom. I'm thinking it was a V & H pro pipe but I'm not sure. My dad was there and he said that was one of the loudest harleys he ever heard. Does anybody know if the pro pipe is real loud?

I like the sound of loud pipes also, I have Samson street sweepers and they
look like the vance and hines big shot shorts. The sound off these pipes are
very loud and it sounds like a harley, even when you back off on the throttle
these pipes sing. You just have to watch out for your nieghbors, cause you
will set off any car arlarm around you, and don't start it in your garage. You
will be deaf if that happens. These are good pipes and they are priced reasonable. I am looking at the vance and hines big shot shorts or big
radious. The chrome lasts longer on the V&H pipes verus the samsons
and the blueing is not as bad. :cyclops:

I chose a 2 into 1 made by RB Racing. I made the mistake of being in the right lane in a tunnel and left my ear ringing all day. Still smiling. My friends love to follow me down the freeway. They see people cover their ears all the time. Too loud? I don't think so. Besides It's fun to torcher people on cell phones in the car.

Pro-pipes, unless you have the competition baffle are fairly tame sounding. If your looking to do a 2 into 1 I might suggest doing a D&D Fat Cat instead of the pro-pipe.

Welcome BTP... Markster's advice is SPOT on... the best way to decide is to listen for a while to other bikes and pipes... when you hear the sound your looking for you'll have that credit caaahhhd out in a second to order up! :bounce1:

be sure to compare apples to apples because even when your listening, engine mods, baffle mods, ect can make a pipe sound different. When you hear a great pipe, compliment the owner, and ask politely about them... the responses I got were great... we love to talk about how great our bikes sound! :boldlgree

And, I heard a D&D Fat cat pipe last week... and have been passed by them many times... if your looking for a 2-1 that'd be the one I'd pick... DJ has been raving about the performance for some time...

Me? I absolutely love my Pythons - Loud N' Proud! Be sure to Check out the exaust spot for other good pipe info and Good Luck in your decision....
