Has anyone experimented with quieting down the Pro Pipe? I like the performance of the pipe, but would like it a bit quieter. For the last couple of months I've also been having problems with the sound (not loudness) that I can't figure out why it's happening. At cruising speeds of 70 or higher the tone of the exhaust is not smooth. It has a slight popping sound. This is not a popping that you would hear on decel or thru the intake. It sounds almost like some type of harmonics with in the exhaust collector. I've tried repacking the small area on the baffle, adding more packing. I've even tried a totally different baffle to no avail. At 60 mph, the exhaust has a nice even Harley sound, as well as on acceleration up to about 2800 rpm. Once over that it gets that slight metallic pop pop pop.
Again, this is NOT a backfire pop. The bike runs just fine.
I'm thinking I could try making the space bigger that the packing is wrapped inside of. Or, maybe even fabricating a longer tube on the baffle so that I could add more packing.
Any of you engine/exhaust gurus have any advice on this?
