I Notice that my header pipe bolts loosen up after a few hundred miles. I put the pipes on(Santee drag pipes) towards the end of the season last year, Is this because the gaskets are still seating? I dont remember the manual saying anything about loc-tite on the bolts, What do you think? There might be around 1k miles since I installed them. Any ideas ???:indiff:

when we install exh, sys on customers bike we always show them where the bolt are and tool needed to tighten after first 100 miles or so because the new gaskets will seat in making them smaller which makes nuts loose. use flanged nuts paart number 7593

It's a dyna so it'll shake a little more than a softail. a little blue on the bolts can't hurt...
nice bike!

most loctite will break down if you heat it, header bolts get LOTS of heat. I'd stick with the lock washers, but then I'm a girl so what do I know ;-)

Does anyone know if you need to use the orange exhaust sealant when putting header and muffler together. Is any sealant used??
