I blew up the rear end of my jeep about a month ago now, shearing off and demo-ing the ring and pinion and the shafts...and i just fixed it today. Good thing about breakin stuff sometimes is it almost makes you upgrade :)

The dealership that looked at it wanted $2,500 to rebuild a stock axle...i couldn't get my jeep outta there fast enough! For way less than that...i put a Ford 8.8 with a Detroit locker and new 4.88 gears in it....along with a new dana 30 front axle with the same gears!

Good for you, Mikey. Now, go out and see if you can break it, again.

(translated: go out, and have some fun, you earned it)

Mikey,
An 8.8 is alright, as long as you use c-clip eliminators. Otherwise you have the same downfall the dana 35 had, if you break an axle your stranded ntil you replace the axle. Buy some c-clip eliminators, and if you break an axl you can still drive home.
