is it not working at all or does it get stuck. if stuck they had problems with the gauge . one cure was to remove it and bend the rod which was hittig the tang and getting hung up. if you do remove it be sure to remove ground cable. when harley did mine the teck shorted the whole system out waited 14 days for parts

Not working at all. Shows empty regardless of fuel level.

I cleaned and checked the connection, no help. Still shows empty regardless of fuel level.

Never Had a Gas Tank Fuel gauge on a Motorcycle. But most Fuel tank problems I have had has been the rod and float think Nikon is on the right track here....

I found the problem! I pulled out the float assembly to check and see if the float was in fact hanging up on something. What I found was a broken wire right at the crimped connection to the sending / float assembly. Now this crimp connector is snaped into the plastic sending unit and has a barb on it so it will not come out without destroying the plastic. It might possibly come out with a special tool, but I don't have one. Luckily there was enough of the end of the crimp connector sticking out, so I stripped back the sensor wire and soldered it to the end of the crimp lug. Good as new and the gauge works fine.
