WHAT TO DO IF YOU GET A TRAFFIC TICKET
*THIS EVEN WORKS INTER-STATE*

This system has been tried and it works in every state. If you
get a speeding ticket or went through a red light or whatever
the case may be and you're going to get points on your license.
This is a method to ensure that you DO NOT get the points.

When you get your fine, send in a check to pay for it. If the fine
is $79.00 make the check out for $82.00 or some small amount
over the fine. The system will then have to send you back a check
for the difference, however here is the trick. DO NOT CASH THE
REFUND CHECK!! Throw it away! Points are not assessed to your
license until all financial transactions are complete. If you do
not cash the check, then the transactions are NOT complete.

The system has received it's money and is satisfied and will no
longer bother you. This information comes from an unmentionable
computer company that sets up the standard databases used by every
state.

Thanks for the tip Boom. For $5 it would be worth a try.
Is this legend or truth?

No idea, Wind. Just passed down to me through email. Thought someone might be interested and dare try it.

Thanks. I'll pass that on to the person who sent it to me.

The last time I tried that I went $10 over, I received a notice saying the ticket was paid which also meant 4 points added to my license, and a 'thank you' note for DONATING $10 to the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Dept.

That's the new thing in parts of CO. here. People try to get out of tickets so much that they've come up with new ways to sting you anyway. Your best bet here is to just go to court and HOPE the cop who issued the ticket is too busy and doesn't show.

This method is proven effective. My boss did this on advise from his brother (a cop).

Plead "Not Guilty." When you get your scheduled court appearance wait as long as you can then postpone, they will give you another date, wait as long as you can then postpone again. That's it, you can't postpone anymore. Go to court and wait. The chance that the cop will actually show is almost nil. If he does show, ask him a simple question about the day like what was the weather like. He may not remember and if he doesn't the judge will throw out the ticket.

Believe it or not I have actually seen this work for people. (In NY at least) Part of the reason is that when the court is making up dates for the cop's court appearances they try to schedule all of the tickets handed out in a certain time period to occur on one day so that the cop can take care of them all in one shot. When you start screwing with the schedule the chance that the cop will show for just your ticket are pretty slim.

This is not fool proof but it's the best shot most people have. One drawback is that if this doesn't work the points go on your license that day and stay the full term which may be a good thing or a bad thing.

Best bet is to not get caught.

Peace.

If you DO happen to be found guilty, you can ask the judge if you can take the Driver's Education Course (and successfully pass) in lieu of the ticket. Often, they'll trade the ticket for the class and you get "0" points.

I've done it myself 3X here in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
