broken starter ring&pinion

my 06 FLHX, 120 JIMS, compression releases, Terry starter clutch; 2nd brokenset of gears lasted 3 weeks(about 10 starts).
Any ideas as to cause?

I've went through one set gears inside my starter from kick-back on my 124". I'm using a 10-84 R&P gearset and so far so good.

I've tried changing the timing and starting revolutions. Hot starts are a real *****...

thanx for input; heard from JIMS, they said to make sure the battery was at least a 350 ccw

I've got Sumax #2 gauge battery cables (clean and tight), 10/84 R&P, Big Boar 350CCA battery with a 2nd battery in my saddlebag hooked in Parallel. So I'm pushing close to 600 amps but still 12V.

I'm not buying the you need a bigger battery cause that's what S&S says also! The next electrical trick I'm going to try is hooking a ground strap from the negative terminal to one of the starter mounting bolts. That's the last trick in the S&S manual anyways...

I also have a relay installed that cuts off power to the lights as long as the starter button is pressed.

Which FI system are you using? Daytona Twin Tech is what I'm running and it's mind boggling to say the least. Trying to find a good shop that is FULLY trained & as close to experts as they can be with the TCFI IID system.

I'm tired of paying people to "guess"...
