Hello everyone!
This is my first post, and I'm hoping one of you fellow motorheads can help me with a tech question.
I have a 95 Dyna, and it was in storage for many years. When I fired it up last year, it was popping from the carb and running badly. I brought it to Harley, when I should have done the work myself, however, the mechanic dropped the bowl on the carb, and cleaned the main jet. After that, it seemed to run sweet, but then I noticed a flat spot at quarer throttle after the engine warmed up. I would crack the throttle at a light and I will get a hesitation. Runs fine on the top end, but I have an annoying dead spot in the throttle when in neutral. I took the carb off, cleaned it, replaced the accelerator pump and throttle slide, and I still have the same annoying problem that didn't exist before the bike was put away. I have heard other riders with the same problem (just got back from Sturgis). Can anyone share some insight to this issue? The only thing I can still think of is either I didn't do a good enough job blowing out all the circuits in the carb body or I need to start looking outside of the carburetor; maybe the voes switch.

Do you have uprgraded performance cams? If the rpms aren't up to the critical point (your "off the cam") response can seem flat and the carb can't fix that.

If not, you might be slightly lean in the middle of your carb (carbs have 3ranges of perfomance/adjustment 1- idle 2- jet needle 3- main jet) and need to raise the jet needle 1 notch in the needle clip. Another possibility of running lean could be due to a small air leak.

Could be a bunch of other small problems too: dirty fuel pet****, dirty air filter, etc

Hey; thanks for the response!
Stock cam; no clip on the main needle, idle adjustment only (keihin cv)and the bike seems to be running a little rich at the moment. I'm thinking that there may be a possible leak at the seal ring between the manifold and carb. It's an intermittant problem usually when its hot, and happens after ya goose the throttle a couple of times. I tried leaning it a little, and making the idle a little richer with a higher idle. I think I'm going to do another complete go over with the carbureter and check the pet****, although I have a high flow pingle on the tank, and when I drain the tank, I seem to get a nice steady flow of fuel rushing out. But I'll inspect the screen anyway.
